Welcome Back

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back and Happy New Year to you all. It was lovely to see the children return with smiling faces and many exciting stories to share. I do hope you all had the opportunity to spend some quality time with your friends and family over the holiday period. As we begin the new year we are all prepared for the challenges ahead and look forward continuing to working with you.

As a school Reading will continue to be a focus for us and we need your help in ensuring your child has access to a wide range of reading resources both at home and in school.  More importantly we urge you to spend time reading to and with your child each day, as well as discussing and questioning the books that they read.  Reading truly is the key to a successful education and can open many doors, transporting children to places of wonder and magic. There will be meetings for parents/carers in the coming weeks to help you in developing your child’s reading skills, please make the effort to attend these meetings. In the meantime we have challenged the children to bring in a photograph of them ‘reading in an unusual place’. The closing date for this competition is Friday 13th January. I do hope they all enjoyed their Christmas reading book present from school.

During 2017 all KS2 children will be given the opportunity to attend a residential trip. These include Year 3 sleepover in School, Year 4 visit to Crosby Hall, Year 5 visit to PGL and Year 6 trip to London. These are fabulous opportunities for the children and are a very memorable experience for them.
