Y4/5 Mrs Hillier

Welcome to Year 4/5! I am delighted to be teaching some children I have had the pleasure of teaching before, along with lots of new faces. We are going to make a fabulous team. What an exciting year we have ahead of us; many new challenges and learning experiences alongside plenty of fun and laughter. Together we will reach for the stars and always aim to be the best we can be to fulfil our potential. We will always be working hard! Please remember that if there are any questions or concerns, my door is always open.

Homework in Year 4/5

Each week, year 4 and 5 pupils receive homework for both Maths and English. Maths activities are always linked to the area being studied in class. English homework is a spelling activity linked to the spelling area covered in the previous week during our Read Write Inc. spelling sessions.

Homework is distributed on a Monday, to be returned by Thursday.

Spellings

Spelling across the school is an important focus. By the end of year 4, pupils are expected to know and use the year 3 and 4 spellings in the list below. By the end of year 5, pupils should know and use at least half of the year 5 and 6 spelling words.

Times tables

Times tables are a vital part of the Mathematics curriculum. By the end of year 4, all pupils should know and apply all of their times table facts up to 12 times 12. These facts are essential to their learning in years 5 and 6 in a range of areas within Mathematics.
