Thank you to our wonderful parents and children and staff for their generous donations to the 'Shoebox full of love appeal' We were thrilled to be able to donate over 50 shoeboxes to families in need in the Merseyside area.
We are so proud of all our Reception / Key stage 1 and 2 children who took part in our Christmas performances this year. The children worked really hard and thoroughly enjoyed taking part in these wonderful performances -culminating in the KS2 Carol Concert in church on Wednesday evening. The performances all perfectly summed up the spirit of Christmas and were a joy to watch.
Next week we will be sending out the raffle tickets for our Annual Christmas prize draw. There are many prizes to win with the main prize being £250.00 cash. One book of tickets will be sent out with each child with more available from the office on request.
We never fail to be overwhelmed by the support from parents with the christmas raffle and other fundraising events we hold during the school year.
On Thursday and Friday we had a full two day inspection by the Catholic Education Service which looked at all aspects of Catholic Life at St Michael's.
We are very happy with the initial feedback which recognised the qualities of our pupils and staff. The full report will be made available to all parents once we receive it.
This term a group of our Year 5 children have been making weekly visits to Ferndale care home. The children are really enjoying their time with the residents taking part in many different activities including singing, playing games and doing exercises. Both the children and the residents have gained so much from the visits which we hope to continue on into the next term.
It was lovely to see so many parents at the Year 3 and 4 'Stay and Learn' sessions this week.
The children really enjoyed working with their parents and the feedback from the parents was extremely positive.
We are planning on more sessions with different year groups throughout the school year.
We were delighted to invite Altru Drama into school for an anti-bullying assembly and workshop.
The children really enjoy the annual Anti Bullying assemblies which are both engaging and informative as they have a very important message.
We would like to thank Altru drama for their hard work and commitment in providing such an engaging performance.
Over the last few weeks we have been inviting our Key Stage 1 and Reception parents into school to have lunch with their children.
The response from the parents has been extremely positive . Parents' have expressed that they have enjoyed sharing their children's lunchtime experience and found it very reassuring to see how confident their children are over the lunchtime period.
This is an initiative we hope to repeat in the future.
Following on from the very kind donations received in school from our generous families, our Year 5 Chaplains helped staff to deliver the donations to Widnes Foodbank.
Needless to say the Foodbank were delighted to receive the donations which were appreciated and much needed.
It is reassuring to know that the donations made will be put to very good use for families in need in the Halton area.
Year 6 were lucky enough to be invited to a retreat day at Lowhouse Church St Helens on Monday. The Children had an amazing day and took a lot from the entire experience. Thank you to Mrs Hillier for arranging and to Lowhouse Church for inviting the children to take part.
