  • Ukrainian Appeal

    Fri 18 Mar 2022 P Loughran

We have been truly overwhelmed at the response we have had to our recent appeal for the refugees fleeing the conflict in Ukraine.

This horrific situation has directly impacted one of our families at St Michael's as they have family living on the Polish border who are currently housing up to 1000 children in a school. Consequently when the family contacted us to explain that they were desperate for certain basic necessities we were delighted to help.

The response we had to our appeal from Parents, Governors and the wider community has been  truly heart warming, particuarly in these difficult financial times.

All donations have been collected from the school and are on the way to Poland. We know that every donation will make such a difference to the lives of so many children and their parents who are living through this horrendous ordeal.

Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine and we will continue to support them in any way we can.

  • World Book Day

    Fri 04 Mar 2022 P Loughran

On Thursday 3rd March we celebrated World Book Day in style here at St Michael's.

Prior to the day, the children have been studying characters from TS Elliot's 'Old Possums Book of Practical Cats', all classes concentrating on different characters.

World Book day started with the children arriving in an array of costumes, including over 100 cats and other characters from the childrens' favourite books.

During the day Foundation and Key stage 1 parents were invited in to visit our library which has been converted into a Magical Forest. It is fair to say that the parents were amazed at the transformation of the library which is an incredible addition to the school environment.

Following on with the theme, the Children took part in some  excellent workshops in either Art or Dance, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all.

All together another very enjoyable and successful World Book Day here at St Michael's.

Please visit the school twitter account @stmichaelscps for photographs of the day.
