Dear Parents/Carers

I would like to wish a very warm welcome to you all at the start of our school year and hope that you have all had a good summer with your friends and family. It has been lovely to see the children looking so smart in their new uniforms with smiles on their faces and ready for the year ahead. I understand some children and parents will be a little anxious, but please be assured we will do all we can to ensure your child settles into school quickly.

May I personally thank you for all the kind gifts, cards and comments that we received at the end of the last school year. It is always very much appreciated and lovely to hear that you believe we are doing a good job.

As we begin this school year, it is important to get your children into daily routines as quickly as possible, that they get a good nights sleep, are ready and on time for school each day and that they work hard every day in school. Our teachers and staff are highly qualified, kind, caring and experienced and will give your child the very best education they can. We ask in return, that you help and support us in all that we do to ensure this is a very happy and successful year at St Michael’s.

On another note, it is with sadness I have to report the passing of our previous Headteacher Mrs Terenia Gosney, who died last week after a short illness. Mrs Gosney had a huge influence on St Michael’s and I know many of you will remember her fondly. She was an inspirational Headteacher, a wonderful person, colleague and friend and she helped many staff, parents, families and pupils. She was a particular positive influence on my own career and I ask that you all remember her and her family in your prayers. May she rest in peace. 

We are all looking forward to a fabulous year ahead at St Michael’s. As always, my door is always open, the staff will always be present on yard each morning all teachers are available via email.

We ask that you work with us, support us, share any concerns and worries and together we will make this a very happy, safe and successful year for our children.
