Hello, I’m Miss Sloan, your child’s class teacher this year. It has been a pleasure to get to know the children over the past week and we have had many exciting learning opportunities already! The children are settling in well to the new routines and expectations in Year 2 and I look forward to the year ahead helping them learn and grow.

We are extremely lucky to have Miss Abbott working with us this year to support the children in their learning journey. Miss Abbott’s presence and support has most certainly helped with the children’s transition from Year 1 to Year 2. We will also be working very closely with Mrs Hillier’s Year 2 class throughout the year.

You should have received a text message already informing you that PE days are on Mondays and Thursdays for this half term. 

We will be using a new app called Boom Reader to log children’s reading at home in Y2 – please do let us know if you have misplaced your letter that was given out at the start of the week.

Reading is a vital part of academic success. Reading regularly will support your child in many ways, including supporting their memory, expanding vocabulary and accessing new knowledge. Children are expected to read at home each evening and for this to be logged on Boom Reader. 

Please save the date – Thursday 7th May – as we would love you to come and watch our class assembly at 9:30am. All parents and carers are welcome to attend.
